Congratulatory letters
If you or someone close to you is about to celebrate a significant birthday or wedding anniversary, you can receive a congratulatory message to mark the occasion.
Messages are sent by your local MPs (state and federal), the state premier and the prime minister to mark 90th birthdays. Those celebrating their 100th, 105th and 110th birthdays also receive messages from Her Majesty the Queen, the state governor and the governor-general.
Couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary receive messages from the prime minister, premier, state governor and federal and state MPs. Those celebrating their 60th, 65th or 70th anniversary also receive messages from Her Majesty the Queen and the governor-general.
You will need to provide a certified birth or marriage certificate, or statutory declaration to support the request and please allow a minimum of three weeks notice – four weeks if there is to be a message from Her Majesty the Queen.
