CARBON TAX

With the federal Labor government's carbon tax it's likely that electricity will go up about three hundred dollars per year and petrol will go up at least six cents a litre. Listen to what I had to say on the matter during my regular segment on Sunshine 104.9 FM.

AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia Day 2011 was a proud day for people in the electorate of Buderim. Our own Jessica Watson was named Young Australian of the Year and I called 4BC to congratulate her publicly.

QUEENSLAND FLOOD APPEAL

The Queensland floods of 2011 will not only be remembered for the devastation they caused but also for the generosity they inspired. I donated $5,000 to the relief appeal on behalf of my family and the Buderim community.

WATER BUREAUCRACY UNVEILED

This is a speech I made during the last siting of parliament where I addressed the degree of waste that is the structure of water supply in South-east Queensland.

In Western Australia, they have one entity across the entire state of 2.5 million km² - Water Corporation with its 16 executives.

Shockingly here, just in the South-east Queensland corner, we have 11 entities. Between them they have 44 board members and 57 executive management team members. That's a total of 101 highly paid executives managing our water.
