Five Buderim community groups will share in $115,000 in grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Member for Buderim Steve Dickson announced the funds, which aim to assist not-for-profit groups to purchase equipment and infrastructure that helps support the successful operation of their clubs.

“Community groups provide an essential role in that they help residents enjoy their particular interests, whether it’s a sport or dancing or a cultural pursuit, and they provide an important avenue for social interaction, so it’s encouraging to be able to announce these funds to support that great work,” Mr Dickson said.

Buderim grant recipients in the latest Gambling Fund allocations are:

  • Sunshine Coast Square Dancing Centre - $35,000 for a new roof on the clubhouse,
  • Buderim Wanderers Soccer Club - $31,818 to upgrade field lighting,
  • Buderim United Churches Soccer - $14,278 for new barrier netting,
  • Sunshine Coast Basketball - $24,045 for a barbecue trailer,
  • Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra - $10,000 for a photocopier.
  • “The Gambling Community Benefit Fund offers a helpful opportunity for local non-profit groups to apply for funds that are generated through gambling taxes and can help make their operations a little more efficient and successful,” Mr Dickson said.

“I congratulate the latest local grant recipients, who can now get on with finalising those projects, and I encourage other groups to look at the fund and consider lodging an application.”
