The Buderim Cricket Club will host a commemorative match on Sunday 13 September from 1pm at the Ballinger Park Sports Complex, playing the “Pollies and Pals” team captained by Steve Dickson MP.
Member for Buderim Steve Dickson said, “The team includes Andrew Powell MP, Mayor Mark Jamieson and Councillors Christian Dickson, Jason O’Pray and Greg Rogerson. This is a return match between the club and a ‘Pollies and Pals’ team and I am relying on the ‘Pollies and Pals’ to retain the trophy!
The match is being held to celebrate the first dedicated grounds for the Buderim Cricket Club which will be named The Eric Moes Oval to honour their late President and dedicated supporter Eric Moes - a man whose efforts for the club are legendary. The naming ceremony including ribbon cutting will commence at 12.15pm.
Buderim Cricket Club’s Chris Agapow said, “After over 100 years our club is delighted to have the opportunity to be custodians of such magnificent facilities. The support and confidence from council and Cr Christian Dickson has been extraordinary, with council providing a total of $673,433. The club is indebted to the many people over many years who have worked tenaciously for a superb outcome.
Having our very own field along with the existing net training facilities will strengthen players’ sense of community within the club. It will give us the platform to attract even more new players to experience the wonderful game of cricket and the friendships that come with it.”
Spectators welcome. Please BYO chairs.
